Artist Statement
What draws me to ceramics is the inherent uniqueness of each piece. No two works are ever the same, each one becomes a record of a specific moment in making. I am interested in how small shifts, whether in form, surface, or material, create something entirely individual.
My ceramic work moves between two approaches, sculptural yet functional vessels, and nature-inspired forms. The sculptural-based work draws from anatomical forms, where subtle changes in proportion, structure, and expression give each piece a distinct presence. The nature-inspired work is influenced by natural formations and processes, often incorporating found and harvested materials that contribute to both surface and texture.
Across both approaches, I work responsively, allowing material and process to guide the outcome. I Utilize varied firing methods and techniques, each piece evolves through a balance of control and unpredictability, resulting in work that is inherently individual.
